Wikipedia

In some way Open Models wants to be the "Wikipedia of procedures". However there are several differences, for example, in the way people can enhance a piece of content (by making comments instead of editing it directly) or by giving credit to authors in a more obvious way.

Text based:
Google knol
Platforms that allow people to easily share their knowledge. It is a structured collection of articles.
Wikihow, dummies.com, eHow, practicopedia and Instructionables
A collection of how-to manuals. The main difference with Open Models is its general purpose (instead of Open Models business orientation).
Video based: Howcast, Expert Village, Sclipo and 5min
These are sites where users can upload videos showing how-to videos. While they share with Open Models the objective of allowing people to share their know-how, Open Models is an information system designed to manage procedures. Similar to comparing wordpress.com with youtube.

What technologies does Open Models use?

Open Models is powered by metoCube , a procedure documentation software. It also uses Apache web server, PostgreSQL database and PHP.
