What license is applied to the content in Open metoCube?

Creative Commons License

Open metoCube models are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License 3.0. This license is considered as the most open license (and by open, they mean really open–free to copy, distribute, adapt and derive the work for both commercial or non-commercial purposes) while ensuring attribution to the author.

Licensing your content under this license means that your content will be publicly available. However there are situations in which you might want to keep your procedures private. If this is the case you can take a look at metoCube's web site (metoCube is the software powering Open Models).

By the way, the folks at Creative Commons are doing a great job for promoting Open Content. You might consider supporting them.

This material is Open Knowledge

Content in Open Models is part of the Open Knowledge movement and the Creative Commons Attribution License is conformant with the principles laid out in the open knowledge definition.

How can I use content in Open Models?

What does this mean in practice? This means that you can reuse procedures in the repository.

If you are reading this, you probably looking for a/some procedure/s (or even a complete methodology) to implement in your organization or for your personal use. You are free to use any procedure in the repository in any way you want as long as you give credit to the author. For example, you can:

  • Consult a procedure directly on open.metocube.com and learn how to it carry out.
  • Copy the procedures and taylor them to meet your specific needs. Copy content in open.metocube.com, paste it in MS Word and edit them.
  • Import the procedures to your metoCube installation or your metocube.com account and edit them (metoCube is the software powering Open Models).

Some Open Models authors offer professional services that can help you save time and resources implementing their methodologies. Look at the author information at the bottom right of any Open Procedure model to see if the author offers this kind of professional services.

Reuse and attribution

If you reuse Open Models content, in order to comply with the attribution requirements of the license, you must include the

  • authors' names
  • title of the work
  • and the Open Models URL where the work can be found

If you cite Open Models content, use the following citation style to comply with the attribution requirements for the license:
